Why should I worry about who I'm hosting with?

Even if all of the technical specifications are the same, the ethics and industry credibility of hosting providers should be a concern.

There are three major points you should consider when planing your online marketing strategy:

1. Uptime – if your website is down for maintenance your saving of $2 a month on a cheap hosting plan may cost you 100 times that in lost revenue.
2. Ratings – being able to obtain high search rankings is fundamentally linked to being hosted on servers by reputable providers.
3. Longevity – are you happy to save $50 over the course of a year only to have your hosting provided disappear, and have to spend five times that figure relocating your site to a more established host, all the while having no presence online.

There are some really cheap hosting options available out there that are ideal for personal use, but in business you should be conscious of brand image... if your website is not reliable, how reliable are your services?
